35TH drama festival Nušić’s days

From April 16 to 28, at the Smederevo City Cultural Centre, fans of the theatre had the opportunity to, see masterful performances of Nušić’s dramas, which deal with weaknesses of individuals and the society in a witty way. It is this event that makes Smederevo the capital of drama art, that gathers the most distinguished individuals of our theatre. Full houses and applauses confirmed that this even still lives.

Prestigious Nušić Lifetime Achievement Award for a Comedian, which were given to some of our great actors last year, went to Aleksandar Berček this year, a living legend, who has been achieving success in his theatre and film performances one after another, from the film Miris poljskog cveća, to films Dečko koji obećava, Ko to tamo peva, Nacionalna klasa, Specijalno vaspitanje.

In addition to this award, the biennial Nušić Award for Revitalisation of Drama Classics in Theatres in Country and Abroad was given to stage director Jagoš Marković. The play Ožalošćena porodica, at the Belgrade National Theatre, was voted best by the audience, and the play Korešpodencija, by Zvezdara Theatre, was voted best by the expert jury.

The Milosav Buca Mirković Award for the best role at the festival was given by the jury to Boris Isaković, for his role in the play Pod žrvnjem, by the Yugoslav Drama Theatre.

Nušić’s Days ended successfully, but that it not the reason, if you have not visited Smederevo yet, to do so. The former Serbian capital, the city of Jerina the Cursed, which combines myth and fact into one, on the former border between the East and West, is close to Belgrade and can be the right destination for a picnic, short trip or a weekend with family and friends. Do not miss the opportunity to do so and enjoy the vineyards in the vicinity of Smederevo, as well as numerous cultural and historical monuments and events that make this city so interesting.
