As a consequence of a fast lifestyle, daily stress and obesity, diabetes – which many call a “silent killer” – often occurs. Predisposition to diabetes is inherited, but it can also occur due to excess weight and physical inactivity. As we are all exposed to everyday problems, it is very important to eat properly, be physically active and to take in magnesium, which has a very important role in the body because it participates in more than 350 metabolic processes..

The recommended daily intake of magnesium for adults is 375 mg. However, the needs for this precious mineral increase in the case of long-term stress, playing sports, in the elderly, but also in people with diabetes. Namely, research shows that magnesium plays an important role in carbohydrate metabolism, because it affects the secretion of insulin, and low levels of magnesium in the body are associated with reduced sensitivity to insulin. It has been shown that patients with type 2 diabetes very often have reduced levels of magnesium in their blood, but also that people with a lower intake of this mineral have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes
